The acronym “NEWMAP-EIB” stands for Nigeria Climate Adaptation – Erosion & Watershed Project. It is a European Investment Bank assisted Project aimed at addressing the challenges of land degradation and climate change in Nigeria on a multi-dimensional scale.

To contribute to Nigeria’s climate change adaptation and mitigation through watershed management approach for sustainable development.

To promote Nigeria’s resilience to climate change impacts.

The Project is being implemented in 23 States of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

NEWMAP-EIB is structured around two key components:

  • Infrastructure:Focused on improving livelihoods through the rehabilitation of gullies and other erosion-prone areas.
  • Capacity Strengthening: Involving the provision of various forms of capacity-building support to the 23 participating states.
